I use AAC for all of mine because they take up less space. In sound quality, a 128 AAC file is comprable to a 192 Mp3.

 

i thought AACs were slightly larger in size compared to the same bitrate mp3.

someone told me there was extra coding in AACs because they have some kind of dolby technology in them. guess i was told wrong. :dunno:

i do know that WMAs are half the size of mp3s at the same sound quality, but ipods wont play em.

Yeah, AAC gives more compression, but retaining better sound quality. I don't know about the dolby thing. Never heard of that. They are really apple's Mpeg-4 files.

Edit: I just read that link, "AAC was developed by the MPEG group that includes Dolby, Fraunhofer (FhG), AT&T, Sony, and Nokia".

when at the main menu, go to settings, then EQ. then select Off if it's not already selected.

I usually leave the EQ on because it's usually plugged into some kind of power. i turn it off when i'm running off the battery.

 

I don't like the sound that the EQ imparts on the quality. I don't feel that it does that great of a job of maintaining the resolution of the song...

:werd: The musical artists spent lots of money to master their cd's. Why would we go mess it up with EQ?

 

to me, it can enhance the sound some times. :dunno:
