Handled some business today!
So after 18 months of driving with no license, no insurance, and the tags expiring in 5 days, I decided I had to step up to the mike and change things. I got to court at 7:30am and was out of there by 9:30am. Paid my fines for a "repeat offender" of driving with no insurance.
Then I headed to Solo Insurance where I was insured on the spot, but it cost me since I was license-less for that period of time and Im "high risk." (haha)
So then it was off to the good old DMV to reinstate my license and transfer title and registration to my name. Little did I know that I had to retake the written test. Im like WTF?! By no means Im an idiot but certain question sure as hell can throw you off and I could only miss 2 out of 20. So I sweating bricks taking it because we all know that we think the questions would be: "What do you do at a red light?"........nononon. Finally they call me back and confirmed I passed. Took my picture again and Im back to no shitting bricks behind the wheel anymore.
No insurance ticket + 3 failures to appear: $1890.00 (paid in full)
Insurance coverage : $356 down -- $65 monthly (paid on the spot)
DMV fee's yada yada yada: $283.00 (paid in full)
Hitting a curb while waving/gawking at new HOT GIRL moving in 3 houses away: Priceless

I got away with no insurance for 5 years, then had my first and only accident 30 days after getting my first policy. Lucky I guess? Hate to think of it that way. I totalled a great truck in that 5mph accident.
But all I can say is DAYUM! Your insurance is cheap as hell considering what you've been through. I pay liability on a 14 year old civic, and full coverage on an 11 year old eclipse, and my insurance is $220/mo where I live in VA. I've tried getting quotes elsewhere and everyone else charges even more. I'm 33 and have nothing on my record for the past 7 years. If I were you but I lived here in VA, I guess I'd be stuck taking the bus because of what insurance would cost me.
I should get a discount on the GSX because it's broken for at least half of every year.

.Oh and apparently when they replaced my windshield after the accident they didn't replace the inspection sticker, so it says VOID on it. I'm going to complain about that tomorrow since I don't have the money to buy a new one
