just to twist around the topic.

say you were coming out of baseball practice and you have all your gear, including a bat. you notice some a teammate running a key down your car from headlight to tail light. it's not a fake swipe, you can hear the metal on metal contact. what would you do?

drop gear.
tackle team mate.
beat him until he either stops squirming or pisses himself.
pick up gear.
get in car/truck.
go home.

I forgot to mention that the teammate is a pitcher. He's 6'3, 210lbs, and can throw a 97mph fast ball One punch from him, it's lights out.

What would you do?

Well it's less strain

In this case where the guy is hurting my car, I want him to feel the pain.

The 'smart' thing to do is call the cops and you can press charges since you didn't do anything to him.

In the heat of the moment, one may take a bat to his head.. so hard to say.
