http://www.dslreports.com/prequal/distance or call verizon.
Can also get a general idea if you look in the phone book and see what town or district you are listed under for local calling.

technically in CA only SBC has CO. The other phone companies are just leasing space in SBC owned CO. So just look for a CO.

probably. it's good enough for 1.5mb down/256kb up. if you try to 3mb most likely you'll end up with something in between. I'm about 12K feet and get 1.8mb down and 340kb up.
