Default Morality Cops On The Rampage

The Texas state legislature has passed a bill banning gays and bisexuals from being foster parents. Will they ban gays from adopting children next?

http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory?id=689673

I was watching Ron Reagan on MSNBC interview a woman who was saying that the FCC indecency rules that apply to broadcast television channels should be extended to include cable television channels. If you like South Park, The Shield, nip/tuck, et al, this is bad news for you.

The important point to consider here is that people pay for cable tv. It is subscribed to, like a magazine. If you have cable in your house as well as, say, children, obviously your job as a parent is to make sure they only see the appropriate content (so hide your Hustler under the bed and turn on the V-Chip, you sicko).

I don't get how Republicans can claim to be all about individual freedom and personal responsibility, then ban gays from being free to pursue happiness and making it impossible for consenting adults to enjoy mature content that they pay for.

thanks captain obvious.

But Benjamin, it was just a woman talking about it. If the president was talking about it, then i'd be scared. Just because a guy on A&E was talking about white supremacy and reintroducing seperate schools for blacks does not mean its ever going to happen.

Sorry, I should have more specific. She was a spokeswoman for the Parents Television Council, which is a lobbying group based in Los Angeles.

And President Bush was talking about it.

Well... if this law goes all the way through... they can go and take all the children back from gay foster parents who have admitted their orientation... and I'm sure they'll launch an investigation into anyone who get singled out as possibly homosexual by neighbors/coworkers.

This is lame, homophobic, and shortsighted. Gay people can be great parents who can provide stable families for many children. Oh well... it's TX... there's nothing of much worth there anyways...

I preemptively move to call Texas "Jeebusland"

It's Texas, what more do you want? I'm surprised they haven't instated a law proclaiming they are above God and that they will judge and execute people for using words larger than "apple."

Hehehe.... "He said 'Pomegranate'! Kill him!!" :reechy:

Anyways... they wouldn't proclaim themselves above God... that would be blasphemous... They'd probably just decide that their laws are the will of God, and get around that loophole that way

i actually have to give bush good credit for that. he saw both sides of the situation. but he was talking about the subject, not saying he was considering implementing it.

and the PTC is just another group, like the KKK or something. i reiterate my earlier point. I'm not saying I agree, in no way i do, but just saying its unlikely.
