curing neck pain, attn: mandi?
i woke up this morning, went to sit up in bed, when i felt a pop in my neck. i went back down as it was painful to move my head in any direction. my girlfriend got me a hot compress, and that helped enough that i was able to move about, get up, and take a shower. however, as my neck cooled off, i could feel it tense up again, and the pain is still there.
i can move my head around ok, but it hurts to turn my head right, and especially right and back. it appears to be the muscle right behind my right ear.
so, anything i can do to make this go away or at least feel better? i've taken 2 aspirin and 2 advil since i got up this morning, but it hasn't helped any.
help.

The warm water and compresses will help the muscles relax, and the pills should help if there is any pain and inflammation.
For the most part, if it is not sever pain, you may have just slept wrong, and the soreness should go away in a day or two. If not, you need to see a doctor ASAP.
I had neck problems for three years, and they suck. If you grind you teeth at night this can also make your neck sore, might want to look into a mouth guard.

Sounds like a muscle spasm. I woke up in the middle of the night one time and moved my neck and that was the end of my sleep for the night.
Went to the Dr.'s to see what it was and she said it was a muscle spasm, and that they can last anywhere from a few hours to 2 weeks....good luck.

Turniquet (sp?)
You probably moved too quickly and pulled something in your neck, if not you sleep weird last night.
Take a hot shower and massage it out. Hot compress like someone said.

You can always go to the chiropractor and spend lots of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. The last time i had the back or neck pain thing, which i have, i just waited it out in pain. It took a week or so for it to finally cure itself. And yes, it sucked. Like posted above try hot pads, hot baths, a massage, and advil or asprin.
