Default Keyboard question

How would i make keys unresponsive on my computer keyboard? I have these buttons labeled 'Power', 'Sleep' and 'Wakeup' and I don't want these to work...

Go into msconfig and look for keyboard startup software and disable it. All the keyboards with those functions like volume up/down, internet, email, etc will usually have something in there that you can disable.

do you have the software that came with the keyboard? is it installed? if it is, open it, there should be something in the software to disable it. if you dont have it installed, install it, then disable the stuff

fwiw, my buttons on my kb work and it didn't come with any software...

you could always just pop the buttons out and put some tape over the space...

xp has primative support for most keyboards with command keys

TweakUI may be able to change/disable those commands.

they will normally work without the software. but you just wont have the option to disable them without the software. lots of time with the software you can change what you want those buttons to do too

Try going into Control Panel > Keyboard> and select the Hardware Tab. You may have to select the keyboard and select Properties. Depending on the keyboard, you may have some options in there to where you can turn these off.

And if that doesn't work, is this your standard keyboard that came with your computer? If not, what kind of keyboard is it?
