I remember when Image first came out and I thought it was so amazing to see the glossy pages. I also seem to remember that there were lots of really nice lookin teeth in those books. Then within a few years all of the Marvel and DC comics had totally copped the style started by Image.

 

Image revolutionized and breathed fresh air into the comic book world. Let's not forget Valiant whom somewhat helped as well. As Mike mentioned, glossy pages? Creator owned characters?
