Default Hooray! A router that works!

Picked up a refurb D-Link DI-624 tonight for 40 bucks to replace my POS Linksys one (Model was so bad that it had it's own sticky thread on broadbandreports for problems with it, lol). I'd lose connection like every 2 minutes sometimes and wireless completely died in the past couple days. So my dad got pissed and told me to find a new one. Not a bad price for a router that can do 108Mbps over wireless. And it has 64 and 128-bit wireless encryption that you can actually set the hex key for.

I have nothing better to post about since that's about all I did today was deal with that BS.

Also if anyone wants to buy a crappy linksys router ...

My first router was a D-Link and it never acted like a bitch to me. The Linksys I just replaced was a BEFW11S4 V3.2. I'm tellin ya, broadband reports had hundreds of replies to the problems thread. Though I heard the WRT54G from Linksys was like night and day compared to my previous one I decided not to go with Linksys anymore. Another reason was they outsource all their tech support to India and none of their support people seem to speak English worth a damn. I tried calling when I first had problems and I couldn't understand any one of the three people I spoke to.

Plus this D-Link I picked up has a slightly higher rating than the WRT54G on newegg. Best router company I've had experiences with anyway. Even my old Netgear router sucked ass. :/

108 mbps wireless? I thought it was only 54 mbps.

I've had my Linksys WRT54G for a coupla years now, no complaints.

linksys > d-link

my old d-link router was always failing. then i replaced it with a linksys BEFSR41. after 2 weeks that burned out for some reason and i got a free replacement from Best Buy.

I've had both Linksys and D-Link routers fail on me. I think its just a fact of life that cheap electronics will fail a certain percent of the time.

D-Link, to their credit, replaced my wireless router no questions asked. Linksys was a little more of a chore to get an RMA.

I had problems with my Linksys router as well....it died after about two months of use. I've got a D-Link now and it works fine.
