it takes more than an emblem to create luxury h:

look at it, its nothing special.

ill give you any and all performance aspects of it, i cant deny those. the car is fast and well balanced. but in that package, i wouldnt take it. to me, the car is plainly ugly. the newer M3's are better but still, to me they are a sports car in disguise as a luxury coupe. i think they should have approached asthetic design a little more aggressively.

similarly, people call the 240sx a "sports car" its big, bulky, ugly design. RWD and mediocre power dont make it a sports car.

so the sunroof, leather interior, power everything, etc didn't = luxury?

the car is over10 years old from when it was first introduced. at the time it was the standard for it's blend of performance and luxury. <--- not my words, it's from the car mags at the time.

240sx was never a sports car in the US, sporty yes, but not a sports car.

:dunno: that stuff doesnt convince me. you could get an integra with leather, power, sunroof etc and still nobody calls it a luxury car. hell ill break away from my honda bias and say you can get a jetta with all of that and a VR6 that would take a gs-r to school day in and day out.

like i say ill never question its performance and handling but aside from being a BMW, id never call it a luxury car. if that exact same car had a different badge on it, critics would be calling it a meeger attempt at a coupe built to compete with high end "luxury" cars

your comment about the badge is what made me respond.

honda accord/ acura TL

acura tl isn't luxury to me either. but to each...

I'd have to disagree with you on that one. I don't see a VR6 taking a GS-R to school even on it's best day. I like VW's, but I wouldn't compare a VR6 with a GS-R.

The E36 has been the epitome of luxury performance for years... BMW has embraced this.
