That new Jetta looks awful from nearly every angle.
The rear elevation is the worst.

I cannot stand those tailights.

h: I'll agree with you on that point.
The front end looks good because the lights, grille and bumper openings are all related forms.

The tailights don't fit into the design of the rear end. That's why I hate em.
Either make them rectangular or circular. Not both.

Taking that circular edge off the bottom of the taillight helps a lot IMO.

When you look at the car in total, including the HORRENDOUS SIDE PANELS, it becomes terribly ugly.

Plus, the biggest plus of the Jetta (the interior and engine) have been completely removed.

Now you get a 150HP I-5, and an interior that looks great but feels like it's straight out of early 90's Chevy Cavaliers.

Sad.

The MKV GTI is OK, because while it's also ugly and non-german looking, it does have a 220HP 2.0L 4cyl Turbo, and it makes that power below 3500rpm. The Jetta doesn't have that luxury, unfortunatly.

I'll stick with my MKIV for now -- until I get a GTO or something.
