Default the new tacoma

cliffs: selling sister my car, possibly getting new truck :yay:, i'm serious this time, 4dr crew or access cab?, your opionions please

what do you guys think of the new tacoma....

seems like a pretty nice truck, kinda wish that they didnt have the 10:1 comp raito in the V6 (it means that there wont be a dealer supercharger option)

the reason i ask is my moms said she might buy me a truck :yay: if i do well in school

see i have been pushed into alot of things in terms of my cars due to having to lug my sister around all the time. (4dr, had to be automatic, i didnt want to deal with shifting with a bunch of girls screaming in the car with music blasting...)

i think i'll sell my sister my current accord 4dr (if i can get her to buy it, it's a 5th gen, it looks sporty enough, i think i can sell it to her)

i've been going through all my options, and i always wanted a truck since i was little, just i didnt want to pour every cent i have into one (i talk about alot of shiz on here, but because of me wanting to save a little for a rainy day i dont know if i'll act on any of it, just to tell you i do alot of it to throw myself into the learning circle of what would be needed... ie, any of the acord guys might remember my idea for a turbo h22 accord, or ppl in the tech forums, me lookin at a hatch for a (gsr or ls)/turbo)

i also entertained the idea of a scooby and a integra, but decided that both may become money pits due to insurance costs and repair bills on the scooby's diff's

so i'm askin you guys, what do yall think of the new V6 tacoma... i was wondering what you guys think, access cab or 4 door

:edit:
AND WHY THE HELL IS IT SNOWING NOW?!

I love them. I would trade in my junker for one right now if I could afford it.

If you get a truck all your freeloading ****er friends will ask you to help them move shit. But other than that, I like trucks a lot. A lot of possibilities in them things.

If you're going to get a truck, get a damn truck. Not some half in between I can't decide if I want something that looks like a truck but isn't as useful as one truck.

Go get a Chevy or a Ford or a Dodge full size, if you want a truck.

Otherwise, stick to a car.

last time i checked the V6 tacoma had more power than a V6 1500
it's towing capacity is pretty good and it has a payload capacity of 1300 pounds...

and how much use do you get out of 4WD in the bay area? it's also the fact that i've been around trucks my entire life, it's what you drive when you are a guy in my family, but i still apreciate the reliability of a toyota...

i dont have a use for a truck beyond the fact that i want a truck.... for you it may be purely utility, but for me it's a way of life, and to me a tacoma is a good enough mix for me because i dont need a truck for every day truck use, so you can blow me and stuff your negative comments.

a tacoma V6 with 245 hp and 282 ft-lbs of torque is plenty for me. i only need a lightweight off road truck mofo

Love the new Tacoma. My CEO has one and is pretty schweet. I've been waitng for this redesign and thought it would come out in 2004. Unfortunately I purchased a house and cant get one at the moment. Hopefully when I'm ready they will have a hybrid model.

As far as the REAL truck statement goes. The way I see it there is nothing wrong with compact trucks and full size trucks but for what it is intended for. Compact trucks are great for the everyday family who needs to haul stuff every once in awhile. Big full sizers are great for someone who is in construction , has a boat , or basically needs the big grunt of a engine that needs to pull or haul big loads. Other than that you are just wasting fuel.

To each there own , its a free country.

my dad is selling his accord and buying one. he ordered it a couple weeks ago.

our 94 toyota pickup (v6 4x4 5spd) has served our family well and we are holding onto it as a secondary vehicle. im not afraid to admit that ive put it thru some shit and it never once gave me a problem. before the 94 my dad had 3 4-runners and had no problems. i hope my dads brand new one will be as good as our previous toyota trucks.
