You have an Indian guy driving for Jordan this year, and yet the US can't seem to get a guy into an F1 car. I've followed Narain Karthikeyan career on and off and I think the results prove he is a backmarker at best. The US has loads and loads of talented road racer and open wheel racers and not a single one is transitioning into F1.
Townsend Bell was a hope but he went to IRL, people are saying Scott Speed might be it but I'll believe it when I see it.
No one likes Americans. If MS was American he would be driving a "Monte Carlo" for frikin Tide or Napa somebody.
Stupid me says: The US is spending their money on the wrong places. F1 is the pinnacle of motorsports and they outta do anything to get an American a seat.
Realist me says: Road racing is a very small fish in the open waters of American sports. Basketball, football, NASCAR, etc generate more revenues than open wheel racing.
Narain Karthikeyan is partly sponsored by TATA who is doing the software development for Ferrari. If you have the right people in the right places with the right resources anything is possible.
