Default Wireless Connection Issues...

I've been having trouble with my wireless connection the past few days. It has been fine lately, and fast...however, the past few days it has been lagging like crazy, and in my wireless utility showing a speed of 1-2 Mbps. It usually is connected at 48 or 54 Mbps. I still have a 100% signal to the network as shown by the wireless utility, and the antenna has not been moved...still has good signal. The speed will go up to 48, then down to 36, 24, 12, 5.5, 2, and finally 1. Any ideas?

Try resetting your base station. It happens to me every once in a while.

I've your registering 54Mbps speeds, I'm assuming it's an 802.11g setup. It's possible some of the performance drop is coming from an older 802.11b device attaching to your network (if the two are used together, the router must slow everybody down to 11b's 11Mbps to make it work). I'd say time to change the SSID channel and change your WEP key (or start using one) if not WPA.

Yes we have a G setup, and we run WEP...nobody else is connected to our network, and none of the neighborhood networks run on our channel. It was slowing down way past 11Mbps...down to 2 or 1.
