Default car getting painted..Masking question?!?

What up,

I am getting my car painted on monday..I'm going to paint it championship white. Anyway i was going to be masking some of the stuff off myself, so they dont mess up. How should i go about masking the inside of the grill, bumper grill, and foglight sections of my bumper? what kind of tape should i use, and give me some tips on how to mask these parts. some of the parts are hard to get to. thanks

heres a pic of what i want to mask off.

BTW..do they just come off of the bumper? if i could just take em off then put em back on once painted it would be hella easy!!

taping up a car is relatively simple. Just use logic...tape up what you don't want painted. I work at a paint store, so I recommend 3M Green Masking Tape...you can just use 3/4" for what you're taping up. But, some 2" might not be a bad idea. Just outline what you don't wanted painted with 3/4" tape first, then put paper over the areas, leaving the edges of the paper on top of the outlining tape, but leave some of the outlining tape viewable. Then, when you have the paper situated, throw some tape over the paper's edges onto the outlining tape. I know this sounds confusing, but it's the best way to do it without having to worry about overspray. And if you do get some overspray, just get some Thinner and rub out the overspray...just don't touch the fresh paint with it.

If you lived in NC near me, I'd help you do it.

Leave it to the professionals. They'll probably rip off whatever you end up doing anyhow.

So let me get this straight....

You are going to tape off your car so the proffessional painters don't screw it up.....but you have no clue how to tape off your car yourself so you may just screw it up yourself.

Let me know if I got this right or not?

But it was a legit question really because it just makes sense to let the pros go ahead and do it, you just have to let them know where you don't want painted:dunno:
