My thoughts exactly.

The great debate...I always lean towards Scooby, but recent developments to the Evo has made me go hmmmmmmmmmm.

evo---
in straight line, the evo is quick until about 85 ish or somewhere in that territory.. so if it's a rolling start from anywhere in that range, the evo is easier to beat than what most people think.. so if you hear some turbo accord saying they beat an evo on the freeway, it's possibly true.

handling.. evo rolls like a boat, but it holds.. and it holds well.. making transitions during s' or slolams is easy as well. i couldn't really find any bad about it's handling characteristics. you can even make it drift with confidence..

acceleration.. off the start, unless you launch at 5k or above, the damn thing sucks.. turbo lag is a killer.. for about 2 sec. the car starts slower than a minivan.. if you're coming out of a corner and don't have enough rpm up around the 4k range, you'll be waiting for the turbo to kick in.. so you'll either need to keep in proper gear or learn to left-foot brake through a turn..

sti---
straight line... hauls ass.. i didn't have a chance to take it above 80, but it didnt' have a problem pulling until then..

handling.. it corners well through sweepers, but it feels like it fights a little when you go through side-to-side transitions quickly.. it also didn't like trail braking into turns.. if you wanted to do any form of lift or braking to rotate the car, you needed to turn the wheel first..

acceleration.. the power felt very linear.. feels more like a na car.. when you punch it, it goes.

my own conclusion.. sti will beat evo in straight line.. but the evo will out handle the sti.. for an overall street car, i would choose sti over evo.. better looking, better fit & finish, performance where you need it.. straight.. for pure performance, i'd definately go with evo..

did several a national searches and you can't have a 2000 911 for around $30K. around $30K ~ 29-31K.

how does one know when it's the end of lease time? you can lease a car at anytime of the year.

similar to my experience... except i felt the sti was floaty and had excessive bodyroll compared to the evo. which was flatter cornering :dunno:

Here is one 911 6 sp from a dealer 2001 for $34,900 awd also. If you want I could buy it for you and resell it to you for much more. I'm certain in Ca they go for more but plan jane 911 is about 28-35K Boxter all day long at 25-27K check ebay.

If you want to pay more go ahead.

I bet you can fix the EVO's straightline issues with some aftermarket ECU stuff. What is a misfiring system?

35K does not equal around 30K. as stated around 30K = 29-31K

This one is a 01 not 98-00 and All wheel drive from a dealer so I think it is close enough.

Ok let me make my original point clearer. For 27K and getting an EVO I think in that price range I would look elsewhere first. I would need to get a great deal on one. It's not a great daily driver, so it falls into the fun class and for that much $ a lot of cars to look at.

I was really impressed with the performance and attitude of the car. I need to find an STI to drive usually the leg room in the Subaru is short so I'll see.

why not look for a used EVO instead?

STi is ~$33K so that's even more expensive than the EVO RS. STi however, is probably the better daily driver between the two.

You might be able to pick up an Evo for a little less than sticker... depends on the dealer.
