Default Failed Smog

Miserably. My car is now labeled as a gross polluter in CA.

Test results:

15mph:
HC - Max: 61 Meas: 88
CO - Max: .54 Meas: .76
NO - Max: 467 Meas: 2070

25mph:
HC - Max: 45 Meas: 45
CO - Max: .53 Meas: .19
NO - Max: 754 Meas: 349

All the smog techs and I can think of is the cat. So, I need something OBD2 and CARB compliant, non-OEM because the dealer rapes for a cat. Carsound or Catco...no Random Tech for me. Anyone have any suggestions?

Ignition timing is stock. Still getting 30mpg or so...runs fine.

wow... did you run the car for a while before smogging? that is some high HC and NOx at 15 mph.

I ran a pretest on mine... the max allowable at 15 mph is at 711 ...

you can get an OEM Carsound replacement. They run about 100 bucks average. Im using an LS replacement from Carsound.

Yeah I ran the car hard, full tank of gas, new oil, stock timing, relatively new cap/rotor/plugs/wires, gets great gas mileage, runs well.

Where can I get the Carsounds? All I've found online is Random-Tech (crappy) and Catco...which is on Summitracing. I also want a direct bolt on, not a universal cat that I have to get welded up. I forgot the length of the LS cat though, so I have to get under the car and measure to make sure I order the right one.

another alternative would be to buy a test pipe for the flanges and go to a parts store and buy a universal cat and take it to a muffler shop and have them cut and weld the flanges...then you can swap that cat when it comes time to test emissions....that or where can you just get flanges?

I got mine at the local Monument Parts store in Livermore at the time. They special ordered the cat for me. Took about 3 business days.
