High doses can produce stomachaches and diarrhea. Vitamin C is water-soluble, so anything in excess is passed through your urine anyways.

At the onset of a cold I take 2000 mg of vitamin C to help shorten the length of symptoms. But I wouldn't make a habit out of it.

I take a lot of vitamin C when I'm sick... I was always under the impression you just peed out what your body couldn't use
