. Do you plan on getting your kids involved when they get older? I wish I would have gotten into something like that when I was a youngin. I took a class in Karate offered from my school but had to drop since it was thursday nights and professors love to test on fridays. Silat was much different. Haven't run into too many people that have studied it.

There is no replacement for actual classroom sessions. You cannot learn ANY martial art from a book. There is so much more by taking the actual class. You learn alot quicker too and learn how the dynamics of each move and the practical principles behind them.

I started when I was 7 years old. Been teaching almost 16 years now. I look back and wish I didn't take time off in high school.
