I have a Sony STR-K740P reciever. After a power outage about six months ago, it would flash "PROTECT" on the display any time I selected the DVD source, which is actually my cable box -- I have a coax audio cable so I get surround sound on digital channels. After a few months, it worked fine again. No idea why it happened or what fixed it.

My friend's sony big screen pooped after a year. I bought a minishelf CD system for my parents and the laser reader pooped after 4 months. I had a Walkman and the laser pooped too. I let my friend borrowed my Xplod amp and it pooped. My other friend bought an Xplod CD player and it skips like a mother. Stay away form Sony.

wow! good for you!!! Want a cookie? Dont get your panties in a bunch because I said Sony sucks ass and dont buy it. It's known that Sony sucks in both mobile audio and home audio. You must live under a rock if you dont know anyone who had problems with Sony and hate their products. The majority of their laptops are good but too many are complete junk too. Sony=garbage. Cry me a river.
