I'm doing a research paper on why companies hire applicants with degrees over applicants with no degree but many years experience in the field. I am writing an email that I can send to Human Resource departments asking questions about their process with this. Here it is so far.

"Hi, my name is Adrian Bedard, I attend Virginia Commonwealth University. I am doing a research paper discussing why a company will hire an applicant who has a degree in the field, over one with no degree but many years experience. I don't know too much backround on this yet, but was hoping you or someone at the company could help answer a few questions.

-Do you hire applicants with a degree over applicants without the degree, but many years experience?

-What factors do you look at when looking at an application for employment? experience, education, ect.."


can you guys help me out with more questions to ask, comments/suggestions on what i already have? It's important, keep the BS to a minimum

do potential starting salaries play a part?

 

not sure of the question it self but about training. Also maybe get in turn over(not sure if that is really the term i am trying to get out)

 

at this company it did. my friend got hired at the same time as me (1 week apart). I got paid nearly 10K more than he did and he had 4more years of experience.

I had a BA as well as 2 other certification. he didn't have a BA and only 1 certification.

 

wow. yeah, that's all the stuff i want to learn about from companies.
