Default PC what to do

Do I...

Give my uncle my old Athlon XP 2100 powered pc with a good bit of bells and whistles and get myself a P4 3.0GHz system. Or just get him a new mobo and processor. The latter would be cheaper, specially since he uses it for nothing more than checking emails and the occasional web surfing.

Not an option, he has a Gateway PIII 1.0 GHz and I kinda wanna get him something a little better since that bloody thing won't take Windows XP.

Once you know what your uncle needs, find him a system (or series of upgrades) that will match them.

I installed XP on my dad's computer he bought in '96 and it runs pretty slow. It takes like 10 minutes to get that thing started up and 10 to shut it down.
