A friend of mine and I are trying to rig up his palm pilot to read his ECU.. but were having some wiring issues..

Im just curious if anyone knows if there is a connecter/converter with a female serial connection and a female usb connector on either side. ( basically taking usb and converting it back to serial. The hotsync cable he has for his palm is a usb and the connector we have going from the diagnostics port is serial..

I dont know if this is possible because of how a USB is powered.. anyone have a link for a converter that might do this?

 

so you want a usb to serial connector? 9 pin or 25? Probably a 9pin.

those are close, ive been sorting thru them all evening, and yea, it needs to be 9pin serial but i need it to be female on both the usb and serial side.. which ive yet to see.. because I cant think of any other application for it.

just go buy a gender bender for the serial side. problem solved.

 

well they do make gender changers for both serial and usb. so just find the closest and cheapest one and also get a gender changer for one end if needed.
