Fugazi is not emo...technically they aren't punk either. Its really hard to define Fugazi to a single slot of genre....but they sure as hell aren't emo.

Just about every reputable alternative/punk source I've seen fits fugazi squarely in that catagory...granted they are a bit harder than stuff like Dashboard, Coheed, Death Cab, etc...the whole essense of true emo isn't the whiny bullshit, but more about the true emotion conveyed behind the lyrics...which I think you can agree Fugazi conveys really well.

people get caught up in the stereotypical 'emo genre' and look past what is actually being said in the songs. in all reality, most songs are 'emo' in their own way. why do songwriters write songs? because its their outlet for however they are feeling. what do people feel? emotions. aHA! wow, we've made a connection.
Ok one thing I want answered....how exactly can you write a song without emotion?
The proper term if you really want to know is emotive hardcore or emo for short.
e·mo·tive P Pronunciation Key (-mtv)
adj.
1. Of or relating to emotion: the emotive aspect of symbols.
2. Characterized by, expressing, or exciting emotion: an emotive trial lawyer; the emotive issue of gun control.
So please for gods fukking sake quit saying "emotional hardcore"
