10 years long i believe.
cuz i remember Odysseus was away from home for 20 years, and it took him like 10 years to get from Troy to Ithaca.

and achilles mother was Thetis, some sea-nymph.

I thought the movie was not bad.

Achilles was dipped in the River Styx when he was a baby, and held by his heels, so it was the only part that didn't get submerged. I don't recall if he was specifically shot by arrows, we just learned that he was struck in the heel (somebody betrayed his weak point).
I've never read the books, though. I'm just going by what I learned in mythology lessons.

It tried to hit the same social veins as Braveheart, Gladiator, and most recently The Last Samurai... with a declining amount of success, if you ask me... but I wasn't a fan of The Last Samurai at all though h:

Troy was ok. Achilles Heel thing had many variations on how he was injured.
