back in the mid 90s, i remember RS*R having an exhaust model called the Invidia along with their 60deg slant tip with black or silver muffler, etc..... then next thing i know, "Invidia" is being marketed as a "brand".... and from there i stopped really caring or paying attention h:

 

GReddy is also a subdivision.....I wonder if I still have my old catalog from '95 that explains everything.

Invidia was a "name" of a style from RSR...just like how the SP is to Greddy. Therefore...Invidia was known as a RSR exhaust from the OG RSR days.

Invidia now....has nothing to do with Invidia before other than the name and identity stolen from RSR....am I correct?

I always thought Invidia now was always a Taiwan company that had no relations to the Japanese company RSR.

Invidia is a manufacturing company. Invidia was never a division of RS*R.

For a while, RS*R contracted its exhausts out to Invidia. So Invidia built the exhausts, supplied them to RS*R, and RS*R sold them as cheapie "RS*R by Invidia" exhausts.

Fast forward a lil bit, RS*R decides it only wants its brand name to be on genuine RS*R parts and stops contracting out exhausts to Invidia. Invidia says screw you guys, we're going to keep making the stuff and selling it with the RS*R name. During this period of time RS*R was not in the USA market anyway.

RS*R gets Invidia to stop stealing the RS*R brand name. RS*R also comes back to the USA market, selling parts made by RS*R.

About the same time RS*R comes back to the USA, Invidia makes a deal with skunk2 to manufacture their exhausts. They have a skunk2 badge on them and come in an Invidia box.

Actually, I had welding problems with my GReddy, but the warranty system was painless. The only thing that I didn't like is that they didn't cover the labor for the replacement, and it must take place at a GReddy dealer...
