Default Wipers broken?

Yesterday, I turned them on and they went halfway up the windshield and stopped. It was really cold and icy outside so I just left them that way. Today I go to try and free them and now I can hear the wiper motor running but the wipers aren't moving. What happened? How do I fix it?

Well you probably stripped the wiper arms.....replace them.

Is common sense really that tough to come by that remedial questions have to be asked?

I'm not very clearheaded today. I had to read that 6 times to understand it. Being sick sucks. What do you mean by stripped the wiper arms? I really don't know how they work, never really caught my attention.

The wiper mounts in multiple pieces.

Basically the arm where it attaches to the motor (gearing whatever) at the hood level is probably stripped. Take off the wiper arm and look to see if it is smooth or nearly smooth.
