collision coverage is not "mandatory" to have by law, because again, its the coverage for your own if it happens to be your fault. thats why ur insurance co. will pay for the other guys car if its ur fault because that part of the policy is required by law...not because u do or dont have collision.
if i were you, id double check the fine print regarding your "hit n run" coverage on ur policy.

You're right, I have never heard of hit and run coverage, actually, what he is describing sounds like limited collision, with limited you have to be less than or equal to 50% at fault in the accident and they will pay to get your car fixed, I thought it was only a Massachusetts thing, maybe Canada has something like this too.

They wrote me a check fro 1876 for the damages. Its cool but the only thing that sucks is that if i wanted to get it fixed back home it would cost more becasue the hourly rate here in SB is 40 bucks an hour average, and in northern Cali its arounds 60-80. So thats a big difference in labor. Good luck though, maybe just leave it like that and not stress over the car untill u can afford something better or afford to get it fixed. I know i'm at the point where my honda is just a car untill i'm out of school casue there are too many idiots driving around here.

My company has preferred shops in Massachusetts that will only charge $35, we tell them they can get it done where ever, but they will have to pay the difference. I have seen customers that are visiting out of state for an extended period of time or go to school out of state, and if that state has higher labor rates, we will 99 times out of 100 pay the extra for them
I dont wanna high jack her thread hehe so i started mines, go see and i'll reply to ur comment about who i have...
I don't think you guys understand. I have no collision, which means if i ram my car into a tree, i get nothing. If someone hits me, then their insurance pays me, but only if they fess up to it. If not, I'm screwed. I don't even have a deductible. I have to pay for it all.
its pretty similar to tarko's damage. i'm assuming that when they pulled into a spot, they hit ice then whacked my car, since the lots are still icky.
