DHL has been around for as long as UPS, but they were only doing International. Couple years ago, they bought out Airborne Express. Airborne did only Domestic, so now DHL is learning the ropes. Given time, i think DHL will be used twice as much as UPS is today. The company is growing extremely fast.
It's going to take a lot of money to get DHL to be close to where UPS is. UPS's infrastructure can handle a lot more volume than DHL. However, DHL is backed by the German government, so I guess they do kinda get a blank check :nervous:

Three day doesn't cost that much more. For the second packages, IDK if it was packed correctly, but more than 90% of damages like that are caused by poor packaging. Like somebody already said, that box is going to be traveling on conveyor belts, slides and chutes with boxes up to 70 lbs. The goods should be packed accordingly. Poor packaging will lead to goods being lost in belts/chutes/slides. Your best bet is to file a claim with UPS. It's most likely sitting in "overgoods" (unknown shipper/shipee, damages, lost items, etc) storage right now. If you file a claim, the package is traced to whatever centers/hubs it went thru and they look for it there.

Trust me, nobody wants to steal your 30" fork, let alone know what your 30" fork is for. Even if they did want to steal it, they couldn't get past the metal detector on the way out. Anything electronic or mechanical has to be cleared by security and management before it can leave the premisis. For this reason, we can't even bring cell phones, radios, etc into work.
IM sorry but I have to call :bs: IM sure ALL of the employees they hire for $7.00 an hour that are part time are honest and don't steal

My other pacakage still has not moved in the last 5 days so much for the train "theory" its now past its delivery date by two days.

Then again maybe someone needed some Hayes disc brakes

Interesting, We dont have security nearly that tight at our hub. No metal detectors, I bring my cell phone in daily with no problems what so ever. They did just catch someone stealing a cd a couple weeks ago tho.

Your package may very well have been shipped out but the Tracking # wasnt scanned. The barcodes are sometimes destroyed and the tracking # is unreadable. So it may have been put on the truck and shipped but just not scanned. It also could have been loaded on the wrong truck without being scanned and now it will need to be returned to your address. Just give it a few more days, then make the claim, they will try and find the package. The label could have been removed while on the belts.

And employees at our Hub start out at 8.50 an hour. People do steal reguardless of what salary they are making. I still dont see your 30 inch fork being high on someones list of items to steal tho

If your package is past the scheduled delivery date, call the 1-800 # and have a trace put on the package asap. If it is past the scheduled delivery date, there is no reason to wait. They can take 8 business days, so the sooner the better.

UPS employees start at 8.50 to 9.50 and have an excellent benefit package. Nonetheless, a persons wage doesn't reflect his or her integrity.

Hmm my roomate worked for UPS and made a whopping $7.50 at part time which might as well be minimum wage.

Considering what the fork cost it might have been more then the persons paycheck.

I can't imagine UPS drawing high caliber people to lift bend work in hot or cold area's for $8.50 an hour.

Not throwing all UPS employess in the same pool, every company has a few dirt balls

If he made that little, he wasn't a UPS employee. He was a third party auditor, security guard, maintenance, or temp worker.

But whatever.. I'm here trying to help you get your shit back, and you're here nitpicking and bitching about UPS employees. With your attitude, I'm sure you'll get your fork back.

Good luck :wavey:
