Default im starting to give semi-serious consideration...

to getting a masters in economics.

i like economics but i dont know what the hell career it would lead to.... :dunno:

furthermore i have little to no interest in being in school any longer, and even less interest in accumulating more debt.

anybody major in Econ or get a masters in Econ? what are you doing with it?

not to sound harsh, but you'll be working in the mall when you're done with that.

:happysad: you certainly could have put it much more lightly than that.

i do know it could lead to teaching Econ at a college, worst case scenario :dunno:

and not to sound harsh but i know there are a couple of HAN'ers who have majored in Econ, i think their guidance may be a little more valid h:

that would actually be a really long road too. you'll need to earn a teaching cert on top of all your work.

seriously though, it's hard finding a job with a major like that. econ is the study of market, trends, so on ... but you really don't learn any true forecasting skills.

i have friends that graduated as stats, comms, poli sci, and econ majors ... not a single one is working a job they like.

you dont need a teaching cert. to be a college professor, at least in NY state, where i intend to live probably for the rest of my life.

my AAS is business admin, my BS is Business management with a minor in marketing. so at the very least, i have that to fall back on....

:goodjob:

that's one thing the people i knew didn't have, something to rely on. they plowed on, got their 4 year degree, and expected a job to be handed to them when they were done.

with that much stuff under your belt, you've shown to any employer you have the capacity to learn, which is something very important.

i would like to work, dont get me wrong but i'm not naive enough to think that i am #1 in a job queue, of course the guy with the degree and 3-5+ years of experience is gonna win.

local job market sucks, im searching elsewhere in NY (albany, syracuse) but if i dont have a decent job, i figure i might as well be working toward another notch in my education :dunno: i need something more specific than business mgmt and econ seems to be something i know, understand, enjoy etc... i dont know.... like i say, the thought of MORE school, more debt, it sort of makes me sick to my stomach....

In all honesty your better off making more friends. Landing the better jobs is more about WHO you know, not WHAT you know. All of the high paid individuals in my company are idiots, but they all knew each other. They don't have a masters.
