attendance was against me as well, giving me a D in one of my classes. i went to the advisor and told him i didn't miss that many classes that would knock my grade down. then he spoke with the professor (a grad student, advisor is an assoc prof of my major) and she turned it.

never hurts to try bro.

God, hope it was that easy for me. Maybe I should go see my advisor right now. I've seriously emailed my professor like 10 times, writing a freaking story each time, to try and get this changed.

I've never had that strict of a policy for showing up.

The one class was 3 classes and the 4th class and every other class you miss after brings you down one letter grade. The one class was up to 9 absences (and he gave extra points if you missed less than three). The other two, well, they really didn't say. They just said that it was important. heh.

That's odd, usually engineering professors couldn't care less whether you're in class. :dunno:

Dear God! They actually take attendance in a class with 200 people?!?

Why the hell should they care? As long as you do all the homework and do well on the tests, why should it matter if you show up for class?

The only classes they took attendance in at my college were small, <30 people classes, where discussion/debate was a required part of the course.

It was actually the lab that got me. There are only ten labs so they don't want you to miss alot, and only about 20 people or so in the lab. Definitely didn't take attendance in the class though.

Ah. That makes a lot more sense. They did always take attendance in my labs too.
