i never heard of renting them...heck, some places that sell them wont even allow you to return them at all.

Hrm usually when i've needed snow chains, there are people on the road renting them out adn installing them like when u go to tahoe. But i dont know if they make some fore 17's or how cheap they are.

Oh well when the weather looks like that the obvious solution is to drive the 4wd because we all know you LA peeps can't drive in snow even with chans and a 4wd
Anyways on to seriousness. Up here in snow country a lot of places do rent chains but I seem to remember never having them available for rent in Cali but as you got closer to the snow line the more expensive they got (last minute buyers). Best bet is to just get a good set of chains and keep them. If you play the buy and return game you are going to end up asking the same question next year and so on which is kinda pointless.
I think the last set of chains I bought was like $20 or 30 bucks. Don't be cheap just buy a set.
