I have a Dell as a desk pc. I want to go with them again but they're sold out of the one I want.

 

Not hard to find. Just look for deals. Of course in that price range, those specs are going to be in a 8lbs laptop h:

I was up at Best Buy a few days ago drooling over a laptop they had on sale. It was a gateway with the mobile m processor 1.7 ghz with 512 ddr ram, 3 usb ports, dvd/cd burner for $1059. Its not a 2.4 ghz but if you realize that even though its rated at a 2.4 its really only gonna run at a 1.6 or so. The beauty of the moblie m processor is that it actually runs at its rated speed and they also have great battery life. Im not sure if it was just a holiday promo but itd be worth checking out if youre interested in it.

 

:thinking: I think you have that wrong. A P4m is rated differently than a regular P4. A P4 running at 2.4 is running at 2.4. A P4m rated at 1.8, is running a little under 3.0 on P4's scale.
