Default Honda vs American cars (my conversation)

I just had this conversation over MSN with a friend of mine at work.
Just a little bit of background info - I was speaking to a different friend about it, a conversation in which I claimed Honda were "one of the most advanced car manufacturers in the world". Just so happens that my conversation got copy pasted to my other friend - with whom i had this conversation. Now we're from australia so some of it might not make sense Now I'm not saying i'm right or wrong, I'm just after other people's opinions on the subject.

Ok, here it is:

Mike_ - ... says:
oh im parked behind you

:: Zak ~ ... says:
in your car that is designed by the most advanced car manufacturer in the world

Mike_ - ... says:
o_O

Mike_ - ... says:
one of

Mike_ - ... says:
doesnt mean fastest car manufacturer.

:: Zak ~ ... says:
im not saying anything

Mike_ - ... says:
...

:: Zak ~ ... says:
wat gives that idea tho??

:: Zak ~ ... says:
im not saying they are crap

:: Zak ~ ... says:
i like them

:: Zak ~ ... says:
im just curious

Mike_ - ... says:
because they have years and years of experience with formula 1 and engine manufacturing in other areas, hybrid cars, efficiency

:: Zak ~ ... says:
alot of companies do

Mike_ - ... says:
another company that works with formula 1 ?

:: Zak ~ ... says:
ferrari

Mike_ - ... says:
are you saying ferrari arent one of the most advanced car manufacturers in the world ?

:: Zak ~ ... says:
yeah they are

Mike_ - ... says:
do ferrari make lawnmower engines, or hybrid cars?

:: Zak ~ ... says:
you said name another car manufactuer that make formual 1 cars

Mike_ - ... says:
thats right

:: Zak ~ ... says:
no but ferraris are way ahead in race breed cars

Mike_ - ... says:
i didnt say race breed cars

:: Zak ~ ... says:
but totally different league im not argueing with you

Mike_ - ... says:
ok

Mike_ - ... says:
by car manufacturers, when speaking with steve, i mean because of their engine experience

:: Zak ~ ... says:
btw toyota have F1 cars

:: Zak ~ ... says:
so does jg

:: Zak ~ ... says:
so does BMW

:: Zak ~ ... says:
so does ford

:: Zak ~ ... says:
yes complete cars

Mike_ - ... says:
yeah, well

Mike_ - ... says:
my conversation with steve was specifically regarding why american muscle car owners tend give honda so much shit for being slow cars

Mike_ - ... says:
we were talking about reliability and whatnot

:: Zak ~ ... says:
as ive heard initally Honda mad ehsitty cars

Mike_ - ... says:
a lot of honda's early cars are still on the road.

Mike_ - ... says:
**** drives one, and it runs fine

:: Zak ~ ... says:
alot of cars that are old on the road

Mike_ - ... says:
as i was saying, when it comes to engines, honda work in cars, formula 1, motorcycles, lawnmower engines, they are doing a lot of research and production in hybrid cars

:: Zak ~ ... says:
yeah that dont excel in specific area

Mike_ - ... says:
says who

Mike_ - ... says:
im not trying to say my car's the best

Mike_ - ... says:
we were talking about american muscle cars and similar

Mike_ - ... says:
and how their car may go better down the quarter mile

Mike_ - ... says:
but mine's more reliable, and doesnt handle like its on roller skates

Mike_ - ... says:
in comparison to theirs

Mike_ - ... says:
because of weight and whatnot

:: Zak ~ ... says:
american muscle cars would last longer than you car mate

Mike_ - ... says:
your proof lies where

Mike_ - ... says:
as far as advancement goes, and experience

Mike_ - ... says:
chevrolet, for instance

Mike_ - ... says:
make "cars, trucks, SUV's, Vans, Commercial vehicles"

:: Zak ~ ... says:
where is your proof mike

Mike_ - ... says:
Honda make "Cars, Motorcycles, Watercrafts, ATV's, Engines, Generators"

:: Zak ~ ... says:
thats correct

:: Zak ~ ... says:
wat is you arguement

:: Zak ~ ... says:
your??

Mike_ - ... says:
experience in engine making

:: Zak ~ ... says:
id buy a ford before i bought a honda

Mike_ - ... says:
are you just being difficult ?

:: Zak ~ ... says:
no

Mike_ - ... says:
yeah i wouldnt.

:: Zak ~ ... says:
im serious

Mike_ - ... says:
so am I

Mike_ - ... says:
I've sat in a ford and I've sat in a honda, I know which is more comfortable

Mike_ - ... says:
and fuel efficient

:: Zak ~ ... says:
when you car has 300000 and doesnt need new rings let me kno

Mike_ - ... says:
sure thing

:: Zak ~ ... says:
ill never get that call

Mike_ - ... says:
look at reputation

Mike_ - ... says:
honda have a reputation for building reliable cars and keeping them on the road

:: Zak ~ ... says:
ill never get that cool

:: Zak ~ ... says:
call

Mike_ - ... says:
because i probably wont have my car at 300,000 k's

Mike_ - ... says:
hey your cars nearly at 300,000 k's

:: Zak ~ ... says:
neither will anyone

:: Zak ~ ... says:
mine is over

Mike_ - ... says:
and lets see how many times you've had to fix one thing or another

Mike_ - ... says:
power steering for instance

:: Zak ~ ... says:
not rings

:: Zak ~ ... says:
wasnt powersteering

Mike_ - ... says:
http://www.whatcar.co.uk/News_Specia...&EL_ID=3103340

Mike_ - ... says:
That's honda, at 3rd

Mike_ - ... says:
http://www.whatcar.co.uk/News_Specia...&EL_ID=3103339

Mike_ - ... says:
ford

Mike_ - ... says:
at 13th

Mike_ - ... says:
out of 26th

Mike_ - ... says:
reliability survey 2004

Mike_ - ... says:
there's my proof.

:: Zak ~ ... says:
thats great proof mike

:: Zak ~ ... says:
well you enjoy you "reliable" survey

:: Zak ~ ... says:
the point is honda make an alrite car

Mike_ - ... says:
ok well I'll enjoy my proof

Mike_ - ... says:
until you show me something better

:: Zak ~ ... says:
and if everyother car manufacturer shut down id think about buying one

Mike_ - ... says:
mazda is 1st

Mike_ - ... says:
http://www.carpages.co.uk/honda/hond...y_10_11_03.asp

Mike_ - ... says:
hey look at that

Mike_ - ... says:
"A Fleet News survey analysing the reliability of 790,000 vehicles run by leasing companies reveals that the Honda Accord is the most reliable company car on the road. And to underline this result, Honda is the second placed brand in the league of most reliable car manufacturers. "

Mike_ - ... says:
"Other Honda models also performed exceptionally well in the survey, with the Civic and CR-V models both achieving 99% reliability, and the previous model CR-V achieving 98%."

:: Zak ~ ... says:
thats why police and taxi drivers use hondas, coz they do the KM's with little repairs costs

Mike_ - ... says:
no zak, they dont use hondas. they use commodores and fords.

Mike_ - ... says:
and they do this, because a commodore or a ford is half the price of a new honda.

:: Zak ~ ... says:
thats correct

Mike_ - ... says:
that is correct.

Mike_ - ... says:
you could buy two commodores for the price of a honda

:: Zak ~ ... says:
a new holden is $45000

Mike_ - ... says:
yeah, because taxi drivers buy top of the range....

Mike_ - ... says:
http://www.carsource.co.uk/news-arti...cle_id=3000720

:: Zak ~ ... says:
mike if u used a honda for a taxi there is no way in hell you would get the KM's out of it

Mike_ - ... says:
hey look more reliability and customer satisfaction proof

Mike_ - ... says:
hey zak, where's your proof

:: Zak ~ ... says:
look i really dont care how much you like honda and how fantastic they are

Mike_ - ... says:
im not saying anything man, im just showing you the proof

:: Zak ~ ... says:
there are way better car manufacturer out there if i was buying a car

Mike_ - ... says:
that honda rate in the top 3 of most reliable cars

Mike_ - ... says:
well that's fine

Mike_ - ... says:
that's your preference, but this is my proof

:: Zak ~ ... says:
yeah mate web sites thats great proff

Mike_ - ... says:
well its better than your proof

Mike_ - ... says:
which is, you know... no proof at all

:: Zak ~ ... says:
ill make you a site rite now that says how great honda is

Mike_ - ... says:
mate its not just a website, its statistics.

Mike_ - ... says:
don't act like you think its fake

:: Zak ~ ... says:
mike there is no proff they actually surveyed shit and rite now i really dont give a shit

Mike_ - ... says:
"both the British-built Honda Accord and Japanese-built Jazz models achieved a 100% breakdown free record, a feat achieved by just five other car models. "

Mike_ - ... says:
hey you asked me for proof

:: Zak ~ ... says:
I DONT CARE

Well that's the conversation - any comments?

Well Zak seems to be one of the people who thinks he is always right and does not know the meaning of opinion and fact :chuckles:

He is a moron for flip-flopping in his arguement. He kinda got me pissed when I read that lol.

hehe he's one of those friends that you love to hate. we always argue but we're always friends. I just want to know, am I wrong for thinking Honda are one of the most advanced car companies? Because everyone that I've suggested it to so far has called me a ricerboy. or called me wrong.

I guess its a bit pretentious posting this on a honda forum, but i wanted to find someone who agreed with me... Apparently nobody believes statistics these days when it comes to looking at cars.

You can't watch the beginning and then the end of a movie and then say it sucked :slap:
