Computer people please help.
For some odd reason, my computer will not let me log on. It shows the XP logo, but when I try to log on, it freezes. I have asked others and they believe I need to reset my BIOS via taking out the CMOS chip, screwing around with the jumpers or just reformating. I cannot reformat for some reasons I will not tell, but I do not know how to do the other two.
How exactly does one take out the CMOS chip and put it back in? I see a small rectangular notch beneath it, but cannot pop it out.
Please help.

Any tools to do so?
Try booting (from the F8 menu) to Last Known Good Configuration.
If that doesn't work:
1) Log in, then give it the three-fingered salute (Ctrl+Alt+Del).
2) Click File > New Task (Run...)
3) Type EXPLORER and click OK.
If that gets you to your desktop, kill off all the startup items you can find, then reboot. If successful, start adding them back, one at a time, rebooting after each one, until you find the bad one.
