Default I Hate The DMV.

I didn't pay my dirtbike registration over the summer when I got the slip in the mail because we were in the process of looking for a new house/moving, and didn't want my stickers to get lost in the mail. In the process I lost my registration slip among the mass of papers I have, and thus couldn't pay it. I got the late registration notice in the mail, and I sent my check in 3 weeks ago, along with a change of address slip. There was no due date on this late notice, but I think I sent it within a couple weeks of receiving it. Yesterday I got a notice in the mail that I need to pay immediately or contact them within 10 days of the notice, or legal action will be taken. That notice was dated on Dec. 8th, but I just received it yesterday. The check that I sent 3 weeks ago has not been taken out of my account yet. I'm gonna have to call them tomorrow.

Yeah seriously. It costs like 28$ for 2 years. I've never even had anyone check my registration at places I've ridden. Either my check got lost in the mail, or it's sitting in their office waiting to be processed. I'd be willing to bet it's the latter.

Well failure to register a vehicle usually just means you have to pay a fee of x amount on top of the registration fee. I don't see how they are threatening legal action when dirtbikes are prone to be used and not used at any given time since they breakdown or get wrecked or whatever.

Yeah, they tacked on a late fee of $10 with the last notice. I don't see why they would take legal action for a whopping total of $38. The notice said it would get sent to collections and they'd garnish my wages. :wtf: I should have just nonopped it and kept riding it unregistered.

Seriously you need to call their bullshit tactics...they can't send you to collections for not registering a vehicle. They can tack a late fee on to your registration but thats it.

:werd:

If it was a bill for services I had already used, like a credit card, car payment, or utilities payment...then they could send it to collections.

 Garnish your wages? Are they going to take out $2 per check for the next year?
