i dont, i just dont understand why some people think its a waste of money to spend money on a phone but can easily justify spending money on other things that are equally unnecessary.

cell phones are just like cars...everytime you think you have teh hotness, someone comes out with something even more hotter and more expensive than yours...

because it is a waste to keep changing phone. it's not like most people keep changing shocks or spring because a newer model comes out.
it's easy to justify when it is a necessity. i need the better shocks to be competitive. same with tires.
does the new $500 phone make better phone calls?

actually my slider does get better reception than did my crappy 79$ green screen phone.
and the features make it worth while to me as well.
and i tend to believe that car upgrades are equally frequent. the drive to be more competitive compells people to continually upgrade whenever they have the extra money or notice that one of their competitors is one step ahead of them. especially in my climate where people have to store their cars away for 4-6 month winters, people are annually upgrading "oh im putting my car away, over the winter its getting x y and z"

Pffft, I change phones every 3 months or so.....its just like a fun thing to play with. Its easy to justify for me too, I need a phone with Palm capabilities because I am always on the move and need to keep all my appointments and meetings in order and its easier than carrying around a palm and a phone. Like u need better shocks and tires to stay competitive, I need to be able to get everywhere I'm supposed to be all the time. As for the internet, it makes good for looking up rates and stuff when I'm not in the office. I need to be able to check my email to get important stuff. So yes, it is necessary.

Its a tool not a fashion thing. And most people will not even use the this phone to the extent it was designed for
