How are big rigs allowed to have diffrent colored lights right behind the cabin, before the trailer, but cars are not?

I understand why the lights we have are a certian color and that there are laws, but why are they allowed to have, as it seems, any color they want there?

we have 6 types in florida -marked cars = crown vic, camaro, ford explorer, chevy impala, malibu, and our under cover cars also include ford taurus
