What car do you drive, what are you going to do with it, how much are you willing to spend, how much ride comfort are you willing to sacrifice, etc.

best thing to do is leave it stock when you first autocross it. It'll teach you to drive better, and you will have a better understanding as to what you should do with the 240...

yeah, and even run on some "normal" cheap tires. Chances are you'll wear them out faster when ur learning, and you can slowly work your way up. Maybe then start to move up to the better street tires, till you reach your "limit" as to how fast you can go (no such thing exists, you can always go faster), then consider modding your car.

I'd still attend an Auto-X school or two before you really start modding it...

When the time does come to buy something, you should look for threaded lower mounts, pillow ball upper mounts, and a damping adjuster which is relatively easy to get at.

If you get caught up in the autocross thing then "the autocross way" is the way to go. If you're more about having fun with your car and hitting up the occasional parking lot full of cones then you can be a bit less structured with your plans. Still though you should make sure the fundamentals are taken care of: good tires, fresh brakes, good alignment.
