Default Tips and gratuities

with parties of 6 or more, do you guys still leave a tip even if a gratuity charge of 18% was added on to the bill already?

If they calculate the charge in than no. I'm not going to pay another 20% on top of that.

Of course not. How much would you want to tip over 18%?

i still do the old take off the zero, cut it in half then add it to the one with the the zero taken off trick when it's not calculated in.

bill is 45.15
divide by 10
4.52
divide by 2
2.26

add together

6.78
voila! 15%

never. especially if they didn't even deserve that much to begin with, which is often the case.

:eh: That is way too much work.

If the gratuity is already added in the bill, why the hell would you pay more?

or you can do what i do and round off the the next 10, then multiply it by two and stick in a decimal point.

8.47=10.00=20.00=2.00

that way its usually over 20%. if its like 21.50, i'll round to 25 though.

question: is the "mandatory gratuity for 6 or more persons" a law?

A "law" made up by some restaurants, yes.
