getting confused with pc ddr memory

Default getting confused with pc ddr memory

what's the diff between pc2700 and pc3200 memory sticks?

my motherboard's instruction book says I could use pc2700, are pc3200's also compatable?

i am teh suck when it comes to this. i haven't shopped for memory since 1999 h:

speed. 3200's will work just fine, but they'll just run at the speed of 2700.

2700 would work in a 3200 board

i dont think it works the other way around :dunno:

a faster memory will always run as fast as the slowest memory in the same system.

you can use pretty much any DDR speed in the board, but it will only run as fast as the board will allow. Like I could run PC4000 in my mainboard, but it would only run at a maximum speed of pc3200.

reboot and look at the bios screens, should say on one of the first few screens you see that just all text or look in the manual for your mobo

i agree..from the classes im taking to get my A+ cert. as long as the speed of your memory is the same speed or faster then your motherboard then you are fine...but if you get slower speed memory it will either not work or slow your pc down a lot
