and i think that you are like the majority of american gun owners, you arent out looking to make violent trouble, you have guns for sporting and recreational purpose and protecting yourself, your home, your loved ones etc is only a back of the mind motivator to own a gun...

Yeah they do, the lawsuit they bring is called a survival action (because the lawsuit survives the decedent) and the suit their family brings is called a wrongful death action.

Of course, as long as it's in your house and the attacker doesn't live there, you can blaze away. Plus you're in TX, so most likely if they're anywhere near your house or look at you funny, you can probably kill them.
