I used to be big in IRC back in the day so I wasn't bad at it but the problem with H-A.net chat was 50% of the posts/chats where smiley (or more accurately typed out long hand that meant nothing to the chat software like :rick:) or one word responses that didn't make sense unless you were following that particular conversation.
