Haven't pulled the trigger yet. That's more than what I make in a week...
I would rather use 400GB drives and only 6 instead of 8. 8 HDDs create a whole lot of heat inside the case...
I had 12 drives in one case at one point and it's no fun.

My friend has 1.75TB of dvd backed up.
But his setup is too big and noisy. He is running 24 sata drives that are 100GB each.
