Default Fiber to the Premises

Verizon is starting to offer fiber internet service to your house. $50/month for 15 megabit downstream/2 megabit upstream (blazing fast).

I called the New York sales office today (890-1550) to order it - won't be available until January. Doh.

Uh oh. I work for Qwest, and the fastest we offer is 7M/1M.

They actually have a FTTP plan for like $39/month. Very competative with cable/dsl.

But that's not the point... the point ot FTTP is the amazing amount of bandwidth you get and the latency and the reliability.

And this was news a while back :chuckles:

Where I am at its only $11 more than cable so it wouldn't be much of a stretch at all.

I looked into it but its not available in my area yet....I am on the list so as soon as it is available I am in.

I have a package deal that is about $100 for fiber optic cable, internet and phone service. It is noticably faster than the folks have

Oh yeah? I can't help but notice that link to Firefox in your sig. Did that just come out this morning?

The new information that I learned today was that it won't be available here until January, so lighten up. :P
