Default So the police recovered my car... (Pics)

So my car was stolen last Wednesday while I was at a Nuggets game. I had parked in a $10 lot across the way (Elitch Garden's parking lot).
The cops recovered my Integra today.

They hadn't stripped nearly as much as I thought they would. They took the speakers, headunit, subwoofer, and ripped up a bunch of interior trim. Took the drivers door panel completely off, screwed up some of the upholstery, etc, but left the rims, intake, exhaust, floormats, and other stuff.
The weirdest thing, is that they took my VIS Carbon Fiber hood, and replaced it with a stock, unpainted metal hood. I guess they wanted the car to not attract too much attention on the street. I took a pic, but it was dark and didn't turn out.

Anyway, I kind of hope the damage is bad enough to total the car (Sacrilege!). I had gotten all hyped up about buying a new RSX-S ( see post here ). The car will never be the same anyway, and who knows how hard the damn theives thrashed the engine.

Don't they (Honda) affix VINs to hoods? Not sayin' they where stupid enough to leave it there, but it would be funny if it was.

So who was in the parking lot protecting your car?
Are they not responsible for keeping your car safe? I mean after all your paying them so there should be some sort of protection.

I hope the fvcking bastards die!
Just kidding. It would be nice if there was justice for this kind of thing. If only the cops could focus on things like theft, and maybe actually catch the fvckers that do this crap, people wouldn't think they just could get away with it.

The hood that they put on there was probably stolen too

Apparently they aren't responsible. I've got a buddy in law school that just studied a case like this, and he says the decision is always that you're "renting space, not security." Plus, on the back of the little parking stub it says "not responsible for lost or stolen items" which I presume includes cars.

but if the parking structure did not have adequate lighting or other types of what can be considered minimal security, then they are liable. this is why most parking lots are brightly lit.

also that like disclaimer on the parking stub doesn't mean jack shit.
