The fact that it once more dispels the myth that HIV is more prevalent amongst homosexual males?

i think we've already established that for quite a while now. if people haven't listened yet, they won't listen now

i don't understand why people get upset over the notion that it's more prevalent amongst homosexuals. i mean, come on, common sense would dictate such. it's much easier to spread given the nature of the sex. it's just a fact, not bias. and i bet figures in north america would reflect this.

Women make up nearly half of the 37.2 million adults living with HIV
Translation: half of the population with AIDS are women

and in sub-Saharan Africa the proportion rises to almost 60 percent, according to a UN report released on Tuesday.
Translation: percentage in sub Saharan Africa is 60%

The reason its more prevalent in sub Saharan regions is because of where AIDs came from and the living conditions.

yes, but what are the numbers per region, not overall? i bet, like i said, north america would be heavily skewed towards homosexuals, or at least it was when the outbreak began.

but i still don't understand why people get all weird about it. i mean, even the gay community denies it, but how often have you heard of a famous person coming out of the closet, and dying of AIDs shortly after? how many movies/plays/shows/whatever have been made that cover the ordeal of a gay man living with HIV/AIDS? this is not a coincidence. you want to state these broad and vague numbers, go ahead. but don't tell me that it hasn't been a big problem specifically in the gay community for years.

Funny but in recent years the number of heterosexual cases of AIDs has risen.

you're stating the obvious now. something is out there for long enough, it'll start to affect everyone. and your last link there proves what i'm saying. look at the number of "men who have sex with men" infected vs. everything else.
