Default oh my god.

mothers with post-partum depression should have the custody of their children taken away until they're taken care of. I don't understand, with medication and time this disease is easily fixed, but it can easily become a major threat to children.

true, which is why if they show signs they should be tested, and dealt with accordingly. i think its one of the worst conditions out there, making a sane woman who would never even harm a child a cold-blooded murderer. its just sad.

derpression messes with your mind alot though, the medicine is there to help the chemical imbalances, but a lot of people need the mental ( phychiatric (sp h: ) ) help as well

You mean psychological. Psychiatry deals with the medicating of the condition.

And psychiatry alone is never a good idea. I know, I spent a year figuring it out.

But the kids do need to go to someplace safe. This doesn't mean the mother can never be around them in a mild state of this--but somebody should be around (read: in the house) with them at all times. You don't want to make somebody that's mildly depressed feel inadequate, as they're likely to get over it. One of the worst things somebody can do with mild depression is give up on daily routines.

Now of course if they're severely post partem then they shouldn't be allowed around the babies until they are gettin better, and still be supervised with the child.

This kind of makes me

A woman with a history of postpartum depression cut off the arms of her baby daughter Monday, then called 911 and waited calmly until police arrived, authorities said.

“There were never any indications of violence with this family,” Gonzales said. “The children had always been healthy, happy and cared for.”
Okay she had a history of it but nothing was done?
