PC problem: reboot after display properties changed.
Hi,
I just built a system for a friend (1st build for me) and I seem to have run into a problem. I put together the following system for him:
P4 2.4A 533 Mhz FSB
ASUS P4S800 board
512 PC2700 memory
3 fans
Thermaltake 420 Pure power PSU
Seagate Ultra ATA 200 Gb HDD (7200 rpm, 8mb cache)
GIGABYTE ATI RADEON 9250 Video Card, 128MB DDR, 128-Bit, DVI/TV-Out, 8X AGP, Model "GV-R925128D"
Problem: After the build, everything runs just fine EXCEPT when i try to change the display properties to a higher resolution, say: 1280 x 1024 @ 32bit, the PC reboots immediately. I was also not able to playback any DVDs even after the proper software and codecs had been installed. I would appreciate it if someone could point me the right way as to what the problem might be & maybe provide a solution. TIA

I just noticed this , it doesn't even allow you to choose a lower resolution setting. I've even tried installing new up-to-date drivers and uninstalled the old driver completely. Still, same problem. Should I just RMA this and get a different one? Any help is appreciated and thank you both for your replies so far.

anyhow, veto.. apparently you've updated the drivers. how about the bios? have you installed the chipset software? have you reseated the cards? try this. are you against doing a reinstall of everything and starting with the latest drivers? i'd try this as well if all else fails.
