Poker hand question (Texas Hold Em)
My friends and I were playing Texas hold em the other night and an interesting dilemma came to us. Let's say that the first player has a K of clubs and a 2 of hearts. Player two has a 10 of clubs and a J of diamonds.
The [5] community cards show a flush draw of clubs (there is a total of 4 clubs) with the A of clubs being one of the cards. One of my friends say that the pot is split because both players are using the A high flush despite the rank of the cards that each player is holding.
Another say the the rank of the card that the player posesses matters and that the player with the K should be the winner. Which one is correct?

to clarify, if community cards showed a full flush of A, K, 10, 9, 8 (c) and both players held a club lower than an 8, the pot is split. If either has the Q or the J then that player would win and the 8 wouldnt play.

I have always thought from playing party poker every day that the pot is split since the flush goes off the high card and the other cards don't matter. but I am probably wrong, I usually am....
